Dordikhola Hydropower Project in Lamjung district has begun test production from Sunday.
The project with the capacity of 27 megawatt commenced test production after completing the entire construction works, Project Chief Munna Shakya said. According to Shakya, the test production will continue for four to five days and commercial production of the power will begin once the test production is successful.
Powerhouse of the project is located at Ramchowkbensi of Bensisahar Municipality-11. Started to build in 2016, the project was estimated to generate power in two and a half years but got delayed due to India’s economic blockade on Nepal, flood in the powerhouse from Marsyangdi river last year, lockdown imposed during coronavirus period and several other technical issues.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 4.64 billion though it was expected to complete with an investment of Rs 4.23 billion. Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) has invested 35.7 percent, IME Group has 34.3 percent and 30 percent public investment for the project development.
