More than 600 pigs have died in Panauti of Kavre district due to African Swine Fever.
607 pigs at Vision Agriculture and Gairigau Krishi farm have died due to fever that was confirmed on Monday. The dead bodies of pigs are buried with proper management to control the spread of disease. Biological safety measures are adopted to disinfect those farms and dead bodies.
Livestock farmers have already lost more than Rs 20 million. Department of Livestock Services has recommend this disesase as very dangerous with very high mortality. Department is trying to provide compensation to farmers.
This disease was first confirmed in Chaitra in pigs of Kageswori Manohar of Kathmandu. More than 1000 pigs died in valley due to fever.
