NepalT20 league has been sanctioned by International Cricket Council (ICC).
In a press release today, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) informed about the T20 league officially endorsed by the supreme cricketing body. The statement says,” ICC has sanctioned the 1st season of Nepal T20 2022, Nepal’s first and only official T20 league.” Further it mentions Nepal T20 as the dream project of CAN and project reflects the aspiof every cricket can of Nepal.
The tournament is set to be held from 24th September to 22nd October in Kathmandu. The release also mentions about the recent removal of economic sanction by ICC. “ICC has complimented CAN’s top governance in running and promoting cricket in Nepal”, statement reads.
However, multiple issues have already been raised about the transparency of tournament. Questions have been raised against Seven3sports, mentioned as the official professional partner of league even in parliament as well. CAN has already partnered with Seven3sports for 8 long seasons straight.
Similarly the existence of other t20 leagues of Nepal, mainly Everest Premier League and Pokhara Premier League whom have played a important role in uplifting T20 cricket in Nepal during ICC’s economic sanction has also become dubious frustrating both organizers and audiences.
