Chinese Communist Party’s recently appointed International Liasion Head, Liu Jianchao is in visit of Nepal since Sunday.
Liu has already paid courtesy call to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday. Later Liu met with Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Narayan Khadka. In the meeting held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Sunday, Liu discussed with Khadka on various matters of Nepal-China relations. They also exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral cooperation and relations between the two countries, the Ministry stated.
Today Liu is scheduled to visit BP Museum at Sundarijal. Later in the evening, Liu will meet with NCP Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and have dinner as well at Soaltee hotel. Tomorrow Liu will have lunch meeting with CPN UML chairman KP Oli at Balkot. Liu will also meet with Unified Socialist chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and leader Jhalanath Khanal tomorrow.
Liu is scheduled to return back on Wednesday after paying courtesy call to president Bidhya Devi Bhandari. China has been explicitly expressing its interest in Nepali politics in recent times. Liu’s visit is a testimonial to China’s attempt in solidifying its presence with Nepali leaders seemingly inclining to US.
