Police has detained 7 after a raid at a call center in Rupandehi district.
Police raided Blue Sky Call Center located at Tilottama Municipality-2 Janakinagar, with more than 150 employees arrested along with their leader. Police have accused them of fraud by sending spam and indecent messages to public. The call center was operated in three rented flats of a building.
Police informed that the racket was involved in sending fraudulent messages to public. They used to collect phone details of public by using fake app that was created by themselves. And then they used to blackmail people by sending indecent messages to the contacts they collected, police said. The call center was jointly operated by Indian and Chinese citizens according to police.
Police has informed that further investigation is ongoing about the operation of call center. Police raided similar call center operated under Chinese investment few weeks ago in Kathmandu and confiscated Rs 4.5 million.
