After rain plays spoilsport in semifinal match of ACC T-20 Women Championship, Nepal’s hope to play Asia Cup crashed agonizingly as UAE progressed to final as group winners.
Friday’s semifinal game, played at Kinrara Oval of Malaysia was cancelled due to persistent rain after first innings. Earlier after winning toss, UAE side elected to bat first and made 81 runs in 19.5 balls before getting all out. Asmina Karmacharya took 5 wickets for Nepal to reduce UAE for a relatively small total. In reply, Nepal chasing a target of 82 runs never made back to ground as rain continued and eventually the match was called off. In group stage, Nepal won 3 games and lost one against Hongkong.
UAE will now face the winner of Hongkong and Malaysia in the tournament final. UAE will now also join India, Pakistan, Srilanka, Bangladesh and Thailand in Asia Cup Women T20 tournament alomg with the other finalist.
